The Shade of Aran is a boss fight in the Karazhan instance. Here is how to fight it and win.
The shade has no threat table, so no tank is needed for this fight. He has five major spells and three minor spells. All of his minor spells can be interrupted; it is his major spells you will need to be aware of. Here are the major spells and how to get out of them.
Blizzard, this is an AoE that he casts on the edge of the room. To get out of this run through the AoE then run to the middle out of range of it until it goes away.
Flame wreath is a five second cast. Once this is cast, no one can move. It targets three random people in the raid and puts a ring of fire around them. If anyone is near them and moves it will do a 3-4k damage spell that hits everyone in the room and will last for 15 seconds.
His worst spell is his massive Magnetic Pull and Arcane Explosion. This combo pulls everyone to him, slowing them, and casting a 10 second cast of Arcane Explosion. Everyone in the raid must run out of range from or it does 9k-11k damage to everyone it hits. The room you're standing in is 22.5 yards from the middle to the edge and the spell radius is 20 yards, so it is important that every one runs as soon as he pulls you to the center or you will die.
The next spell he does summons water elementals. He will summon four elite elementals when he reaches 40% health. These can be banished and feared or tanked but do not need to be killed. They last for 90 seconds and then disappear. If they are not tanked, feared, or banished they will target your healers first due to healing aggro.
The shades last major spell is Enrage. Players will know that it is coming when he emotes, "Give an old man some time for a refreshing drink." He then will polymorph everyone into sheep and sit to drink a manna pot. Once he is done, he will Pyro Blast the whole raid for 7k-9k damage, but the raid should still be at full health because of the polymorph. He will then go into a stage were his manna reaches 20%.
